I have been reading about being "green". Ways to clean your house green. Ways to drive green. Ways to doctor yourself and your kids green. I started to think about my daughter-in-law and her mom. They have been green for a long time. Gift wrapping paper green. We always laughed because Patty gathered up every scrap on paper and saved it for future presents. The next year you might see that paper again. Just think how wise she has been. Hey, I save those gift bags...I'm green, too...
This post may seem like I was being funny. I wasn't though. I am very serious...

I thought you were being sensible!
My mom was green long before the green movement. She saved the wax paper inside the cereal boxes for reuse and collected aluminum cans along the roadside.
I have saved the gift bags and boxes for years. I guess anything I can save I do. Also any natural cleaning things I use. Vinegar, baking soda, etc.
Green is certainly the way to go these days. I always save gift bags. They are too pretty to throw away.
Vinegar - now that's still the best way to clean windows!
Very wise and thoughtful, Beverly, and I think everyone who writes about it is doing their bit to save our environment.
I make a huge effort, too, and try to not buy things in heavy packaging.
Echoing some of your other commentors.....
Living on the Cape our eco-system is very fragile (as it truly is everywhere) and years ago I stopped buying commercial cleaners and have found baking soda, lemon and vinegar to truly be my best cleaning friends. For the bath I have found some lovely handmade local soaps. Every little bit we do helps.
Re-using bags and gift wrap is wonderful and I even find packing materials at work which can be re-used for unique ways to wrap gifts.
Same thing with my mother in law.. 86.
She's been recyling plastic bags and greeting cards and wrapping paper for the 38 years I've known her.
It's a wonderful legacy.
