Way Behind.....San Francisco

Just got back from a trip to San Francisco with all my old work buddies. I am posting a few pictures of the trip. I can honestly say I had so much fun! I did not expect to love it so much. One of my friends planned it all for us, and had us leaving our room in the morning and not returning till bedtime. I am not used to that, but, would do it again in a flash!

Lily and Haley

A visit to the Memphis Zoo means we have to go see Haley. She is in a playful mood and really put on a show. She got out of the water and backed up to take a running jump into the water. Talk about bubbles!! She has a powerful jump! She knew we loved watching her....I could just tell!!!

Laura

Tomorrow I go to the funeral of one of my former co-workers from the Newborn Intensive Care. We nurses are a tight knit group and this is the first death we have had among us. She had cancer and worked until this summer. She loved her family, friends, and all of the babies she cared for. I am very sad right now, but, I know her last days were hard and I am thankful she is no longer suffering.

Lily and Meme

Grandparents Day Fall 2012 Lily and I are so much alike that I feel like she is the happy part of my childhood! She and I think and like so much of the same things....but, she is so much more of a free spirit than I was.

Rare Picture

I try and I try. I can not get a picture of this boy. One day when I am gone and he is looking through my pictures, he will wonder where he is....why does Meme not have more pictures of me? Well, Max, I try and will probably do so until I can no longer pick up my camera. Cause that is just what I do!!!

Oh, I am so slow....Forrest was eight on August 30, 2012! He had a party at the trampoline place where you jump til you drop! Watching a bunch a eight year old boys jumping really wore me out!! They had fun and enjoyed a sugar high for the rest of the day!!!

Lily Is Ten

Before the next grandchild birthday, I want to put a few pictures of Lily's tenth Birthday Food Fight. That was right, you read this correctly. She requested a food fight party. I have to admit it was fun! Tee shirts were made, nasty food concoctions were made, and the goopier the better. There was blueberries boiled to gunk, mashed beets, green mashed potatoes, tomato sauce, juice, chocolate, you name it! This was then either thrown, water(food) pistoled, or smeared into anyone outside the safe zone. Those girls did not care that I was an old grandmother, if I was outside the zone, I got hit!! Lily is so like me in many ways, except this silly side of her. She is teaching me to let go though!

My Daddy's Side

I was looking at a box of photos that my mother hid in the attic. Who knows how long ago this was. After she died, I was not in the best of health, so my cousin cleaned out the attic. She sent one box to me that contained all my "stuff" I saved from high school. In the middle of this box was another box. It was an old, very old box of pictures. There was also food rations stamps from the war, an Easter card to my Mama Gooch from my uncle from Germany during WWII. I wish I could take a picture of it all to show you. This picture though is my Mama Hailey, Aunt Inez and my cousin Barbara Ann with her son. My father's family, my family. I am so happy to have this picture of them!

Happy Birthday Mother

Today is my Mother's birthday. She would have been 97 years old. Last night I remembered that when the boys and I would visit, she made bacon and toast made in the oven, not a toaster. Funny how these small memories mean so much to me now. She loved doing things for her family. I posted this on Facebook. I got a reply from my cousin who still lives in my hometown. She said, "I still miss and think about Aunt Estelle a lot. My first horse cost $100.00 and I had saved $75.00. She gave me the last $25.00 so I could get him. She was a special lady and I loved her. Happy Birthday Aunt Estelle". My cousin now has Hoofbeats of Hope. You never know how something small you do can have an impact years later..... I miss her still.....
