Shelby

This little girl is Shelby. She is a miniature Dachshund. She came into my life at a time that I needed a little friend to love. She weighed one pound five ounces. She was so tiny that we would step on her, slam the screen on her, and such things like this, and man would she yelp. We would have to love on her and promise never to do it anymore. Poor girl. We should have learned, but, we didn't. A golden retriever stepped on her, and she ended up with a bulging disc. Weinie dogs are known to have a bad back. I did not know she would end up with four back surgeries. She has had some terrible moments with them, but, this little stinker is a survivor. She is still running, digging, and loves to play with her little Halloween orange ball. In fact, she can wear me out with her begging to play. She will run get her ball and drop it at my feet. Plop...that means get up and play or you will not have a moments rest. You would never know she will be 12 years old the day after Christmas.

What a sweet puppy. I think no matter how old dogs get they can remain puppylike as long as they are loved and happy. May she continue to give you joy for a long time.

What a dear dog! I know you must adore her. I never have let myself fall head over heels with a dog, but I know they are such faithful friends.

We can be so busy in our lives that we fail to give animals their due.

Shelby is such a cutie and really must be strong willed to survive all her surgeries and accidents that happened to her. I am sure she brings you lots of good times and the grandchildren love her.

She plays catch? When I throw a ball, my dog looks up at me with a look of, "Yeah right. You threw it, you go get it."

LOL

I smile at the many happy times she has given you. She is truly a survivor. Like you and I. Have a good day.

My neighbor has a miniature Dachshund and she is very puppy-ish and playful. She has a basket of toys that she shakes vigouresly as if the toy is a rat. When I visit I have to watch where I step because, even though she is getting grey, she hasn't learned to stay out from under my feet.
